HOUSE OF HUNTER

The Hunter family have lived and worked on the land in this wonderful part of the Sussex countryside for many years.  Our ancestors are laid to rest at the church in the beautiful grounds of nearby Buxted Park, where generations of Hunters have enjoyed playing cricket, as they still do today.  We returned to the area in 2006 and moved into Woodreed Farmhouse, a traditional East Sussex farming cottage dating back to the 16th Century.

WOODREED VINEYARD

OUR VINEYARD

Our small vineyard is perfectly situated on a south facing slope, sheltered from the elements by the remnants of the ancient forest that covered the High Weald of East Sussex. First planted in 2013, the vines have thrived on the rich soil and have been allowed to develop unrushed, with the first harvest coming in 2018. The grape production and wine making systems are fully organic, certified by the Soil Association, allowing us to produce a high quality wine that is full of character without the use of chemicals.
